Abu Dhabi – House of Artisans presents an immersive experience. ‘Tides and Traditions: The Journey of Maritime Crafts and Heritage’ أمواج وتقاليد: رحلة في الحِرف البحرية وإرثها الثقافي sheds light on the traditional marine crafts that have long been a vital part of Emirati heritage.

Through a thoughtful and immersive journey, visitors are invited to explore not only the physical tools and skills of marine artisans but also the deeper emotional and environmental landscapes that shaped their lives. From the harsh beauty of the sea to the communal spirit of coastal life, every element of this exhibition is designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of the maritime traditions that contributed to the development of the UAE.

At its heart, the exhibition is a celebration of craftsmanship. It pays tribute to the artisans who dedicated their lives to mastering marine crafts such as dhow building, net weaving, and pearl diving—crafts that were essential for survival and economic growth across the regions. These practices reflect a unique blend of technical skill, resilience, and a deep connection to the natural world.

Presented by the House of Artisans, ‘Tides and Traditions’ is more than a historical showcase; it reflects Abu Dhabi’s cultural identity. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present, honouring the traditions that shaped society while ensuring they remain alive for future generations. Through its engaging displays and storytelling, the installation emphasizes the enduring value of Emirati traditional crafts as living expressions of heritage, creativity, and continuity.

In a rapidly modernizing world, such initiatives play a crucial role in preserving cultural knowledge and inspiring new generations to appreciate and carry forward these time-honoured traditions. This exhibition not only highlights the significance of marine crafts but also reinforces the importance of cultural preservation in building a strong, rooted, and vibrant national identity.
