Emotional Reflections: The Soul of Seven Horizons

The Turkey Pavilion presents ‘Emotional Reflections: The Soul of Seven Horizons’ -  a multisensory installation that merges contemporary art with ancient memory, inviting the audience into an emotional dialogue with the city of Istanbul. Inspired by the city’s iconic seven hills, the installation features kinetic sculptures, LED responsive lighting, thermal and motion sensors, ambient soundscapes, and the scent of traditional Turkish coffee — blending sensory art with intimate inner reflection.

This is not merely a work to observe, but a living system that reacts to the viewer’s emotional presence. The visitors’ proximity and body temperature trigger gentle shifts in light and movement, transforming their emotions into visible expressions. Through this real-time interaction, each guest becomes a co-creator, contributing to a shared emotional atmosphere.

The sculptural forms mirror Istanbul’s layered soul – mystical, chaotic, poetic, and resilient. Shadows evolve from abstract silhouettes into more recognizable human-like shapes, symbolizing the convergence of self and city, spirit and structure.

Bridging art, technology and cultural heritage, the project creates a space where ancient identity meets contemporary sensibility. It invites the audience to pause, reflect, and connect – with themselves, each other, and the timeless rhythm of Istanbul.
