Ancestors in the Making: Care through Indigenous Lenses (performance)

3 Jun 2023 16:00 - 17:00 Care Pavilion, Mezzanine, Somerset House

4:00-5:00pm - The Bonita Cola and Felipe Viveros

Ancestors in the Making. Care through Indigenous Lenses is a participatory performance led by The Bonita Chola and Felipe Viveros, which explores, documents and interacts. It is a long life practice to connect, care and heal our ancestors, ourselves and future generations. It is the practice to preserve, resist and to keep alive our ways of life, our way of living well or sumaq kawsay – in harmony with everything.

Ancestors in the Making is a 500 years old practice that has been passed on through countless generations to us. A way of fighting and resisting colonialism everyday.

Part of the Sympoeisis programme presented by the Care Pavilion.

We need new ways of being with one another - glimpses of liberatory abolitionist futures that show that other ways are possible. ‘Sympoeisis’ explores care through practices of knowing and being: from the myths and ceremonies that have allowed people and the more than human world to converse over millenia to care as an act of renewal and resistance. ‘Sympoeisis’ is a space for wild ideas, for deep listening – a place to ‘make-with’ other life-forms.
