Fluctuating Bodies of Care (Performance)
11:00-19:00 - Aslıhan Şenel and Bihter Almaç
Setting up of the architectural gestures, projections, drawings and text suggest a performance. Wandering among the fluctuating states of care among the performers, bodies in set-up, and the space of the installation, the viewers will witness the transferring of the tactile-corporeal practices within the hammam and workshop to architectural gestures.
The mistranslation of hammam’s architectural terminology and iterations made from those allow us to open up an imaginary realm where human and non-human bodies of hammam entangle.
Part of the Fluctuating Bodies of Care programme presented by the Care Pavilion.
Fluctuating Bodies of Care re-imagines hammam as a feminine care space and offers architectural gestures that urge intimacies between subjects and objects of design through a wet and hot undoing of architecture, which includes stories around spatial practices of feminine care, liquefaction of architecture, and sticky and slippery contacts between materials and bodies.
