Ajuju: Film Screening and Q&A
Back to previous pageAjụjụ by Myles Igwebuike, the Nigeria Pavilion designer, is a filmic inquiry into the subtle architectures of memory, absence, and becoming.
Ajụjụ, meaning “question” in Igbo, is a nuanced multi-part documentary film series that examines the interplay between history, identity, and cultural reinvention through the lens of Lejja, a community in southeastern Nigeria. Once known for one of the world’s earliest iron-smelting traditions, Lejja offers a profound narrative about the resilience of indigenous knowledge, its erasure, and its enduring impact on contemporary society.
