Across the Global South, historic cultural trajectories have been interrupted by processes of colonialism and the imposition of neoliberal development. With a focus on the African continent, this talk discusses how design – locally and globally – can be used to strengthen narratives that have been broken or undermined and to bring to the surface richer and more complete stories. Speakers include Myles Igwebuike, Designer and Curator of the Nigeria Pavilion, and Danielle Alakija, lead Artist and Curator of the Global South pavilion. The talk will be chaired by architect, writer and academic Nana Biamah-Ofosu, whose major projects include curating the V&A exhibition Tropical Modernism: Architecture and Independence
