Sur Andina

‘Sur Andina’, created by the collective Madre Tierra—founded by textile artist and designer Cindy Lilen and sound artist and designer Iliana Diaz Lopez—is an immersive art installation where textiles and sound converge to celebrate the harmony and sacred wisdom of the Argentine Andes. Drawing inspiration from the region's rich cultural heritage, the installation invites visitors to connect deeply with nature and the essence of being.

At the heart of ‘Sur Andina’ are light and textile sculptures crafted from natural fibres sourced from the Andes’ mountainous landscapes. This handmade textile work reflects the intricate traditions of Andean craftsmanship, offering a sensory experience of observation and interaction. Inspired by traditional oral stories and myths, Cosmovisional Sound Stories brings the natural Andean landscape to life, through sound art and design in an immersive audio installation. Original compositions and sound design transport audiences into the mystical and authentic world of the Andes.

The art installation is the result of both artists’ research and experimentation of the Andean culture translated into a contemporary language. ‘Sur Andina’ offers a powerful homage to its legacy, fostering a renewed appreciation for its timeless beauty and wisdom.
